MAKE IT Prize Results

Through two distinct tracks - Facilities Track and Strategies Track - the MAKE IT Prize aims to award approximately $30 million to promote and enable domestic manufacturing of critical energy technology components while engaging communities to catalyze manufacturing activity at the regional level.

Facilities Track

Phase 1: Scope

In Phase 1 of the Facilities Track, winners were awarded $500,000 each and advanced to the Phase 2: Shovel-Ready.

Phase 1 Winners

  • Ballard's Fuel Cell Engine Manufacturing Facility
  • CellCube Lean Energy Assembly Network (CCLEAN)
  • Ceramic NaSICON Membranes for LDES
  • Components for Fuel Cell Trucks: 100% Made in US
  • Conformable Hydrogen Tanks for Production Capacity
  • H2 Electrolyzers for North American Market
  • Hybrid Transformer–Power Electronics Equipment Manufacturing
  • Linde Hydrogen Storage Vessel
  • Securing America’s Vanadium Electrolyte Supply

As part of the work to compete in Phase 2, competitors will identify and secure the final location of their facility.

Phase 2: Shovel-Ready

In Phase 2 of the Facilities Track teams secured the final location of their manufacturing facility. They demonstrated they are “shovel-ready” for facility construction including control of a site, permits, financing, and proof of community engagement. Phase 2 winners are being determined through up to four submission deadlines.

Phase 2 winners include:
