April 24 Webinar: Learn More About Round 2 of the Solar Prize

On Wednesday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. EST, the U.S. Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratory will hold an informational webinar on the all-new Round 2 of the $3M Solar Prize. DOE’s Solar Prize Lead Victor Kane and NREL Prize Administrator Debbie Brodt-Giles will provide an overview of the goals and vision for the prize, followed by a summary of how to participate, leverage the American-Made Network, and prepare a successful submission. Round 2

The American-Made Solar Prize is a $3 million prize competition designed to revitalize U.S. solar manufacturing through a series of contests and the development of a diverse and powerful support network that leverages national laboratories, energy incubators, and other resources across the country.

Important dates for Round 2


  • Submission opens: March 22, 2019
  • Initial Ideation Submission Period deadline: July 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM ET
    Ideation will stay open for new submissions throughout the competition. However, to receive a $1,000 recognition payment, the submission must be entered prior to this date.
  • Ready! Contest submission deadline: July 16, 2019 2:00 PM ET
  • Ready! Contest peer ranking: July 18 - 25, 2019 11:59 AM ET
  • Ready! winners announced and Set! and Go! Contests begin: September 2018
  • Set! Contest winners announced: Estimated date of early 2020
  • Go! Contest winners announced: Estimated date of second half of 2020
